Revised 2009-2010 School Year Calendar...The school calendar has been revised to reflect the make up for 4 student instructional days lost due to weather-related emergency closings on February 10, 11, 12 and 26. With the support of the School Board and the professional staff, March 26 will be changed from a staff inservice day to an instructional day for students. Impact of Pennsylvania School Employee Retirement System (PSERS) on School District Budgets...PSERS is a governmental, mandatory defined benefit pension plan for Pennsylvania school employees. According to data from PSERS, the employer contribution rate is expected to increase sharply over the next four years and have a significant impact on Pennsylvania school district budgets. March 8, 2010 Finance Committee Meeting Materials - Draft Proposed Budget Strategies...In an effort to recommend strategies to close the budget gap, the Finance Committee continued its review of draft budget materials. The March 8th background materials are the same budget strategies that were reviewed at the February Finance Committee meeting. Reminder - Pennsylvania's School Bus Stopping Law...The T/E School District Transportation Department has received reports of motorists violating Pennsylvania's School Bus Stopping Law. Motorists must stop when approaching a school bus with red signal lights flashing. Citizens witnessing the violation of this law may report the violation to the police. It is important to note the license plate of the vehicle and a description of the driver when reporting a violation. School Board Commits to Limiting Tax Increase to 2.9% or Below...At its regular meeting on January 25, 2010, the School Board voted 9-0 in favor of a resolution that caps the potential tax increase at 2.9 percent for the budget year 2010-2011. Updated Chester County Health Department H1N1 Vaccine Clinic Schedules (2/5/2010)
